The Ultrasonic Diaphragm Plate is a high-power ultrasonically activated plate built to be welded into an existing reaction vessel or processing tank, (also known as a Weld-In).

The Ultrasonic Diaphragm Plate, M/N: UDP-3914

This Ultrasonic Diaphragm Plate is a 39" x 14" and built to be welded into our customers extraction system. We have cut away the Transducer Cover to show our silver-brazed magnetostrictive transducers. This 4,000 Watt system has been wired with a waterproof wiring package with no exposed electrical terminals. The Transducer Cover is rated NEMA-1 (IP21) and the wiring is rated NEMA-6 (IP66). Our Ultrasonic Diaphragm Plates are built to provide maintenance free and continuous operation, (100% duty cycle). These systems will handle large
volumes of material for many years without degradation to the ultrasonic processing performance. The UDP design allows the system to be scaled up to meet your processing demands without compromising performance or operational longevity.

The Ultrasonic Diaphragm Plate is the basic building block for the construction of an ultrasonic processing machine. Many transducers are silver-brazed to the Diaphragm Plate to produce intense ultrasonic activity. The Diaphragm Plate is built to be welded directly to the reactor or vessel requiring ultrasonic activation.

UDP-803-16

 

The Ultrasonic Diaphragm Plate, M/N: UDP-803-16 kHz

This Compressed Air Cooled Ultrasonic Diaphragm Plate (M/N: UDP-803) has the magnetostrictive transducer silver-brazed to a 8" x 3" x 1/4" thick Diaphragm Plate. The UDP-803 is built with a 600 Watt, 16 kHz transducer that contains over 3 kg of nickel each with a stack length of 14 cm. The transducer assembly is equipped with a compressed air connection port for transducer cooling, (air pressure required is 5 to 6 bar). The transducer has been wired with our high temperature wiring package for steady state operation at 150 C and Intermittent operation up to 180 C, without permanent damage.

The Ultrasonic Diaphragm Plate, M/N: UDP-6012.

We ship the Ultrasonic Diaphragm Plate with the welding instructions attached directly to the Diaphragm Plate's surface. This way we are ensured that your welder has the proper information for a successful installation.

Please note that some Ultrasonic Diaphragm Plate's Transducer Covers are so large that we mount handles to facilitate removal for transducer servicing (as shown on insert).

The Ultrasonic Diaphragm Plate System consists of two major components:

1. The actual Ultrasonic Diaphragm Plate is the mechanical vibrating plate that is welded into your Reaction Chamber. For some applications, the UDP may be bolted to the Reaction Chamber.

2 The Ultrasonic Power Supply is a generator that converts 50/60 Hz energy to high frequency 20,000 Hz ultrasonic energy. The generator may be protected by a NEMA-1 (IP21) Electrical Enclosure or a NEMA-12 (IP54) Generator Electrical Enclosure.

We can even provide Dual-Frequency Ultrasonic Diaphragm Plates. In fact, our Ultrasonic Diaphragm Plates are so reliable, most customers prefer to Weld the Ultrasonic Diaphragm Plate directly to their Tank Assembly. The UDP can be built as a Bolt-In for less permanent installation requirements.

UDP-3012

The Dual-Frequency Diaphragm Plate, M/N: DDP-3012


This System consists of 3 pairs of Dual-Frequency Ultrasonic Diaphragm Plates, (please note that only 1 pair is shown in the photograph for simplicity). Because the customer needed the flexibility of moving the Diaphragm Plates to various reactors, this system is a "Bolt On" verses our preferred "Weld In". The "Weld In" Style is preferred for long term performance because the gasket is eliminated (ASPS considers gaskets a maintenance item).

The (6) Ultrasonic Generators are located in a NEMA-12 (IP54) Generator Electrical Enclosure. This Electrical Enclosure has been provided without Disconnect Switch because the power to our Generator Electrical Enclosure comes from a Master Control Enclosure (which is part of the customer's system). Please note the Variable Ultrasonic Power Controls are mounted on the Electrical Enclosure's subpanel, away from inadvertent operator adjustments.

The Dual-Frequency Diaphragm Plate, M/N: DDP-1313


This system is built to be immersed in supercritical Carbon Dioxide to accelerate extraction rates. These Dual-Frequency Diaphragm Plates are wired with our sealed electrical wiring package. The sealed electrical package is our preferred package for wet and hostile dust environments. There are no exposed electrical terminals that could create electrical shorts.

The transducer electrical wiring can be operated without cooling for extended periods of time, (hours), without permanent damage at 100% duty cycle under 50% ultrasonic power. With a minimal amount of cooling (ie. Heat removal), the transducer electrical package will never over heat at 100% ultrasonic power.

UDP-2420

The Ultrasonic Diaphragm Plate, M/N: UDP-2420


This Ultrasonic Diaphragm Plate is ready to be welded into your existing reaction vessel or processing tank. The Diaphragm Plate is typically tack welded into position prior to removing the Transducer Cover. Once the Transducer Cover has been removed, the Plate is ready to be full welded into your system. The permanent performance properties of our Ultrasonic Diaphragm Plates and the magnetostrictive transducers ensure that you will never need to replace the Diaphragm Plate, ever.

The Ultrasonic Diaphragm Plate System consists of two major components, the actual Ultrasonic Diaphragm Plate and the Ultrasonic Power Supply, (ie the generator that converts 50/60 Hz energy to high frequency ultrasonic power).

This system is crated and ready for shipment. The NEMA-12 Generator Electrical Enclosure has only been primed, for the installer will paint the entire system their color.

This system has been built for direct immersion into the Processing Liquid (thus we have replaced the Brass Transducer Caps with Stainless Steel Transducer Caps). This installation method is NOT ideal because the Diaphragm Plate is back loaded, thus some ultrasonic energy is NOT directed towards the object requiring Ultrasonic Treatment.

Remember, several of the variables that influence ultrasonic reaction rates are: particle dwell time within the ultrasonic processing cavity, power input (watt density), spacing between the diaphragm plate and the product requiring acoustic treatment, operating pressure, liquid density, and liquid operating temperature.
